This morning, I laced up for a 16km run from Kasarani to Karura Forest, and it turned out to be one of the most refreshing runs I’ve done in a while. The route was friendly and full of life. People along the way smiled, waved, and some even looked like they wanted to join in. That simple connection made the run feel lighter somehow.
What kept me going was knowing exactly where I was headed, the Karura Waterfall. Having a destination changes everything. It gives your run a sense of purpose, especially if you’re a beginner, still building consistency. Every step felt like progress toward something beautiful waiting at the end.
When I finally reached the waterfall, the sound of the rushing water and the serenity of the forest made it all worthwhile. Standing there, catching my breath, I realized that running is more than a workout. It’s a journey toward peace, clarity, and self-discovery.
Karura’s trails have a special kind of magic. Sometimes, all you need is the right path and a destination that reminds you why you love to run.
